Feature updates and other things that have been brewing for the couple of months
It has been couple of months since we launched Inc’s beta for the public. It grew out of Kippt, which we build for individuals to collect the important things they see online. We realized that companies face the same problems in much larger scale. Too much valuable knowledge is lost in email threads which might never find its way to new employees or they distract much urgent communication (who hasn’t send a cute cat gif to company mailing list?).
Since launch we have had thousands of organizations, everything from small startups to multinational companies and non-profits, signed up for Inc. We have worked hard to respond to every single feedback email and feature request so that we can improve Inc. Things like groups and hashtags so that our users can better organize their content.
Today we have a whole lot more updates which will take Inc beyond just sharing links: you can post image, files and notes. Lot of these features have been inspired by creative teams who are using Inc internally. And don’t worry, GIFs will play a large role in Inc’s future.
Post links, notes and files
With the new compose interface, you’ll be able to post:
- Links - Paste a link and we’ll show a preview or the embedable version of the page
- Notes - Format your latest updates in Markdown
- Images & files - Drag & drop to upload important PDFs or screenshots of great designs you have found
For designers we have added a small little shortcut to post designs: You can now copy & paste straight from Photoshop or a screenshot you copy to your clipboard. As this relies on the latest browser technologies, the feature is only available in the latest versions of Chrome.
Autocomplete for mentions and emojis
To quickly nudge your coworker about an important post or comment, hit @ and start writing their name. You can also post emojis with familiar :emoji_name: syntax.
Post with email
You can now post links and notes directly to Inc with your personal email. And if you need to archive an important email for the whole company? Just forward it to Inc.
We have also good new for all the productivity hackers who love IFTTT: saving with email works with IFTTT recipies when used with Gmail channel. Read more here.
